Maintenance & Care Guide

"A SoulBJD is a delicate, handcrafted work of art designed to last for generations. With a little love and proper care, your resin companion will remain beautiful for years to come. Please read these guidelines carefully."

1. UV Light is Resin’s Enemy

It is a natural characteristic of all polyurethane resin to slowly oxidize and change color (often referred to as "yellowing") over time. While this is inevitable, you can significantly slow down the process:

      • Avoid Direct Sunlight: Never display your doll in direct sunlight or near windows without UV-blocking curtains.

      • Keep Away from Heat: Keep your doll away from radiators, heaters, or extreme temperature changes.

      • Even Exposure: If you display your doll, rotate them occasionally so the resin ages evenly.

2. Daily Handling

  • Clean Hands: Always wash and dry your hands before handling your doll. The natural oils and dirt from human skin can transfer to the matte resin surface and attract dust.

  • Protect the Face-up: The hand-painted face-up is sealed, but it is still fragile. Never scratch the face with your fingernails, and avoid squeezing the painted areas (like the cheeks or nose) when changing heads or eyes.

  • Use the Face Mask: When traveling or storing the doll, always attach the plastic face protector (face mask) provided in your original box.

3. Beware of Staining

Dark-colored or highly saturated fabrics (especially black, dark blue, or red denim/cotton) can bleed dye onto the resin.

    • Wash Dark Clothes: We highly recommend washing dark doll clothes in cold water with a little salt before dressing your doll.

    • Use a Bodysuit: For tight, dark clothing, use a light-colored protective inner bodysuit (anti-stain suit) underneath.

    • Don't Leave Them Dressed: Do not leave dark clothes on your doll for extended periods (months at a time).

4. How to Clean Your Doll

  • For the Blank Body (No blushing): If the resin gets a scuff or dirt mark, lightly dampen a small piece of a Melamine Sponge (Magic Eraser) and gently rub the area.

  • For the Face-up: DO NOT use water, Magic Erasers, or chemical solvents (like rubbing alcohol or acetone) on the face! This will immediately destroy the makeup. To clean the face, simply use a soft, dry makeup brush to gently dust it off.

5. String Tension

BJDs are held together by an internal elastic cord. Over a few years, this cord will naturally relax. If your doll becomes "floppy" or cannot hold a pose, it simply means they need to be restrung with new elastic. This is a normal part of BJD maintenance, and there are many helpful tutorials available on YouTube!
